And, almost immediately I began entertaining thoughts that she might be home doing some "entertaining" of her own. It was an engaging thought - OK, a fantasy. Jealousy has never been my thing...

Perhaps this is a fantasy I can muse over comfortably - imagining walking in and finding her "en flagrante" - because it's so highly unlikely. Or, maybe not.

When I got married - a million years ago and in another lifetime - I entered into one of those "open" marriages. I was very young - and admittedly, pretty darn naive. But, we both put theory into practice with forays and explorations, sometimes with mutual friends, and it never disturbed me. Often, in fact, quite the contrary. I recall one friend visiting us for a time and she jumping into bed with him each morning after I'd gone to work.

If I have any regrets it's probably that the three of us didn't take advantage of a unique situation and push the limits of the small double beds! But, that's another story.

So, I walked into the house the other day to find CJ in her coat gathering up some items for an errand she had to run. A much more quotidian moment than the one I was conjuring. Still, it sets the mood for the nice homecoming....

Resurfacing...

I've been working out of town this week. Restless. Itchy. "Oh yeah...?" I said grinning to myself. "I have been too." I added. So, we went out to a local spot for lunch...

Huh??

Time was when "itchy" never made it to lunch. Or, at least "lunch" was at home and didn't necessarily involve hamburgers. But, times have changed - and, we're both living better thru chemistry these days. Both feeling the side effects of our antidepressants - and, happily, able to make jokes about it.

We made a note after lunch to remember to scratch each other's itch!

And, I bet we will!

Soon!

Ummmm.... Some have remained "clickable" and others are not. The HTML code is identical. Why are they not clickable?

So, in lieu of sharing insightful personal relevations (sometimes in short supply) I offer the following. I hope it holds some entertainment value for you!

I was certified for scuba diving in 2002 - and now am a certified Master Scuba Diver. It has been one of the things that has most animated my world in this life (so far). I dive year 'round here in Maine (see my earlier posts). And, about once a year there are a couple weeks of warm water diving as well - ie Caribbean: usually in late-winter, about the time we're all going nuts with the long winter; when these 18" snow storms stop being entertaining. And, our low-temperature readings stop feeling like good bragging-rights fodder.

Now that the holidays are over (blessedly) I hunker down for the long haul with two main thoughts: remaining financially solvent (I am self-employed), and the upcoming trip to 82* salt water....

I usually bring my U/W camera on dives. Unless, of course, I'm diving for my dinner: scallops! - when I carry a catch-bag. But, that's another story.

So, today I'll share some eye-candy in the form of undersea life. Enjoy!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FCOxcPtyo6I/SW3uJncVlNI/AAAAAAAAAAg/BPM_n0OP55g/s320/Sea+horse.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291146986204271826" />
Long-snout sea horse and brain coral

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FCOxcPtyo6I/SW3wq6TohLI/AAAAAAAAAAo/90LeWXsQexk/s320/IMG_0147.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291149757226976434" />
Sand-covered sting ray

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FCOxcPtyo6I/SW3yF3PD03I/AAAAAAAAAAw/jDLirkvqGxs/s320/IMG_0269.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291151319770583922" />
Hawk's bill turtle

Thought for Tuesday

"To live with the conscious knowledge of the shadow of uncertainty, with the knowledge that disaster or tragedy could strike at any time; to be afraid and to know and acknowledge your fear, and still to live creatively and with unstinting love: that is to live with grace."

--Peter Henry Abrahams, The View From Coyaba

The quote is from a friend's daughter - 22 years old and a cancer survivor....

New Year's!

OK. The $30 MonsterPod lets your point-n-shoot seemingly defy gravity thanks to a patent-pending elastic solid known as Viscoelastic Morphing Polymer which forms a temporary bond (anywhere from a minute to an hour) with almost any surface that it comes in contact with after a little pressure is applied."

"While this is certainly a much more versatile and portable option than traditional tripods (if not more available: the MonsterPod is scheduled to be released "two weeks" from an unspecified date), the near-impossibility of leveling your camera means you better have a passing familiarity with photo editing software so you can rotate and crop all your crooked pics."

To learn more click here.

Spotted Dick (HNT#4)

Here in New England we are in the midst of the coldest temp's of the winter (strange, but true), and my thoughts are in The Carribbean. She was berating herself for getting half way home before recognizing that a store clerk had been flirting.

In my experience, women tend to be more subtle with their flirting than men. And, too, men can all too often miss even the most obvious sorts of flirting when it's staring them in the face. (Yes, guilty, as charged - but I'm getting better). Darkneuro's story is a familiar one to me, at least.

But, I was at Home Depot the other day - I'm there several days a week for someone's project or another and I know most of the people by their first names. But, my cashier was new, maybe in her late-20's, and when we completed the sale and I was turning to leave, she cocked her head just a little and smiled at me, saying "see-ya...."

Nice!

These sorts of little encounters in a day can really give you a lift. They are memorable - if only for the more soulful contact they provide. (OK, the tingle in the groin is nice too!)

Darkneuro complained she doesn't know how to flirt. I believe less is more: making and holding eye contact, perhaps for a bit longer than usual is huge! It says, I noticed you - and I like what I see. A simple "Hi" - said with a bit of warmth can be very powerful. On the receiving end, raising your eyebrows (with smiling eyes?) makes a great response....

I think perhaps the most important element here is a sense of spontaneity and "on-the-fly" reaction to a situation - i.e. unpremeditated. And, this suggests going about your daily business with a certain openness of spirit; a certain sort of availability to the world at large which can make the landscape we occupy so much more alive and rich. Our connection to the world is essentially erotic (says James Hillman) - the world speaks to us through *attraction*. Flirting in this respect is simply being alive and available to the world that surrounds us....

Beauty Queen

Visuals are usually easier for me to post than writing. I’m trying not to ignore it, or push it away. I’m trying to explore it and see what’s being asked for, to see what sort of response is required… because if repress it I know this upwelling will continue to haunt me….

I now fantasize about things I’d had never considered before (call me boring!) and I find myself wanting to try all sorts of things with my partner which was not previously thought about (I mean, wouldn’t it be fun to masturbate each other from under the blankets while flying in an airliner?? And wouldn’t it be wicked if there were someone in the adjacent seat and we had to be “discreet”). And I often ponder how it would feel to watch my partner make love with another man (or, sure, a woman!) – (not that she would necessarily ever consent to it!)

And, too, all sorts of “images” come to me now unbidden – of a nature and intensity heretofore unknown. My interior sexual life is often aflame. One aspect of this is the way I am attending to women now - with a greater depth and intensity. Nearly everyone is of interest to me now! When I see a woman with a any bit of spark in her eyes, some interest in the world apparent there – be they tall, short, thin or large – whole scenarios just begin to open up in my mind’s eye without any invitation. Vivid!!

Every situation is different – but, for example, I may well imagine us undressing each other and laying down together on top of a thick down comforter. And wondering what particular tastes and smells would I find as I nuzzle the smooth skin behind her ears and down her neck, around her nipples, her navel? Would she be moist when I pass my fingers lightly between her legs? Would she open them inviting me to explore her? Would her pussy taste deliciously musky and sweet? And would her body tell me I was pleasing her?

I wonder, would she cum while I was massaging her with my tongue – kissing her clitoris, my lips open and parted against hers, sucking it into my mouth like it was her tongue in a French kiss??

And I wonder what it would be like to look her in the eyes as she takes me inside her…and what completely unique sensations of warmth and soft comforting touch her pussy might hold… would I see in her face evidence of her sensing me inside her in the same way? Would I see pleasure there? Would she want us to be energetic, or slow and sensuous? Or both?? How so? And afterwards, would she want me still inside her? …to lie quietly together for a time?

And, you know - all this while standing in the grocery store checkout line…! It’s enough to make me walk funny sometimes!!

HNT #2

Enjoy!

Mind / Body

For the past couple of years my partner (CJ) and I have been, like so many people today, taking antidepressants. They've been a God-send. I really don't know if CJ and I would still be together without them. (We've been together 21 years.) CJ, especially, has been transformed - more open and communicative, and a delight to spend time with. For my part, the world is definitely a much better place now....

But, there's no such thing as a free lunch - the benefits come at a price. These prescriptions leave the libido trailing in the dust. I am thankful these side-effects are common to us both - and, we frequently make jokes about it. But, I can imagine the problems that would develop with only one partner taking them and the other not....

Coping with these side-effects have had some interesting aspects. Sexual urgency is a totally different experience for me now. The body knows very well the time that's elapsed since its last screwing, while the mind remains fairly unconcerned.

Before beginning the prescriptions we had sex probably three, maybe four, times a week. And, that number has certainly diminshed - but rarely to less than twice a week now. However, it's often fairly "lazy" sex, with a really satisfying shagging only once or twice a month. The fact is, we both tend to forget about sex until one of us cranky and pissy and has trouble sleeping for being so horny. But, it's the *body* that seems to deliver the message....

As a result, one of things I've done to make a conscious effort to "sexualize" my day are "adult" blogs - which I think are just wonderful! I really appreciate the candid, open, frankness so many bloggers offer to the world at large: finely crafted writing and so very heart-felt! I wasn't expecting so much *humanity*! Thank you!!

There must be many people in the blogsphere who also cope with the side-effects to antidepressants. What a beautiful day on the water! I love this kind of tired - after a day of diving: droopy-eyed, but with the endorphin "one-with-the-universe" that comes with your blood full of nitrogen. Slow easy sex would be quite nice....

It might come as a surprise to you to learn I concieve of this blog as a sex blog. It probably will be.

I'm working on a post regarding strategies for dealing with the sexual side effects of antidepression medication. Not a whine and cry post, but a discussion.... It strange when your body knows you NEED TO GET LAID! But, your mind set is dilly-dallying at the rest area. A very interesting mind/body split....

Stay tuned!

Patience please!!

If you're stopping by in hopes of a new post - thanks!!! I appreciate your interest!! I have a topic for a post I've been working on and wanting to write for some time now. It will take a bit of time to work out (I want it to be good post!)

But, time is perpetually in such short supply! And, I don't even have kids!

Plus, Tuesday I'm going scuba diving. Yes, in the cold Atlantic - for scallops (cold, as in 34*F.) I do this because I *like* doing it! Not because there's any money to be made (there isn't anymore!).

I know, jumping into 34* water seems counter-intuitive to many of you. Please understand, I love warm-water diving! It's so *easy*! But, scallop diving is a special thing and a special skill. It's a great way to spend a day outdoors in the winter. And, it's cheaper than skiiing. Well, OK, maybe not, if you count the boat.... But, I still love it! Plus, there are the scallops!!

So, please be patient with me as I get used to the blogsphere and compose myself to make a good impression (I hope!).

Please come again soon!!

By way of introduction

I'm not usually much for lists, but this list from Lara at Whineywench (via Madame X) may help introduce me to you, my readers (if there are any of you out there!) I've added and edited the list:

Four Jobs you’ve had:

waiter
wine steward
commercial fishing
house painter/"handy man"

Four Places you’ve lived:

Vermont
California
Maine
Massachusetts

First president you remember:

Eisenhower (dimly). I do remember Jack Kennedy winning the election, however.

Four TV shows you watch: (mostly all off the air now...)

Sopranos
Six Feet Under
Sex in the City
West Wing

Four places you’ve traveled to:

Alaska
Mexico
France
Various Carribbean destinations (diving!)
Newfoundland
(OK. That's five...)

Four of your favorite foods:

I love to cook - and will happily eat most everything. Because I live near the ocean - Fish! But, I especially love the scallops I scuba dive for in the winter; my neighbor's beef - when available; and, all sorts of game - especially venison!

Music you listen to:

R&B, especially from the 60's and '70's
early jazz
Van Morrison
and, well, Jimmy Buffet

Three non-fiction authors:

James Hillman
Thomas Moore
Gretel Erlich (The Future of Ice)

Three fiction authors:

Barbara Kingsolver
Tony Morrison
Patrick O'Brian (and his 20 volume "Aubrey/Maturin" series!)

I've been quietly following *many* blogs for the past couple of months and will, as my skills increase, link to my favorites. (I puzzled my way through a couple links already!) I thank you all for your generosity of spirit and for taking/making the time to post!!

Everybody's doing it....

OK.
